Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study
Non-formal education programs play a crucial role in addressing literacy gaps, providing vocational training, and empowering marginalized populations. In Potiskum Local Government Area (LGA), Yobe State, non-formal education initiatives target diverse groups, including out-of-school children, women, and adults seeking skill acquisition. Public relations (PR) is instrumental in promoting these programs by raising awareness, engaging stakeholders, and fostering community participation. Research by Ibrahim and Garba (2024) highlights the impact of PR in increasing enrollment and community support for non-formal education programs. This study examines the role of PR in promoting non-formal education in Potiskum LGA, focusing on strategies and outcomes.
